Post Class

Within the past few weeks I have gone through a lot personally and I have had to adjust my entire life. This might not make sense to many people but I have had to become the leader of my life. Within the past two years I have had someone else be my leader and I was the follower. Thanks to that I have lost my confidence and I have had to overcome a lot to adjust of losing that person. Now I am more confident and I have taken control of my life and I have become the leader of MY life. I have learned a lot from this class both in the classroom and out of the classroom. I have learned about what it takes to be a leader, what it is to also be a follower at the same time. In order to lead you have to be able to listen to your followers and almost take a walk in their shoes.

My groups project was about Erin Brockovich. I am very happy that we chose this movie because it was the best time for me to watch this movie. To watch a true story about a woman who had several children and who was divorced twice and had to be on her own. This showed me that things could be a lot worse and she took control of her life and was a leader both to her family and to the people at her work. I have taken her outlook on life and her work ethic and applied it to my life. I have learned to never give up and never doubt yourself. If you really put your mind towards something you will accomplish what you set out to do. I have shown greater leadership skills at my work and everyone is noticing it. My family and friends are noticing that my leadership skills have improved and I am now confident in taking control of a situation and being able to listen to my followers.

I am very glad that this class was a requirement for my degree. It taught me a lot about the business world and also about myself. This class makes you think about what you want out of life and what you need to do to get there and this makes you a leader. You learn from your mistakes and your life so when you lead a group of people you understand when they come to you with confidence about issues. This class has turned me into a confident and independent leader and I am very thankful for that.

Day One, September 1, 2010

Today was the first night of class and I really liked the introduction about the wolves. This was very interesting and yes I do think humans can learn from wolves. Since we are mammals as well we still share that and we, like the wolves, play when we can, hunt when we must, and rest in between. This is a healthy life in my opinion. I also found it interesting that the wolves respect their elders and teach their young because they know that they are the future. This should be very important for the generation which is entering the work place. We should be able to learn from our elders, we should make mistakes and learn from them and then ask our elders how they handled it. In the work place leadership is very important but it cannot be competitve (at least not in an unhealthy way). There is leadership in all sorts of areas. For example, our teachers and professors are our leaders in making sure we understand what they are teaching and our teachers and professors are telling us things from their own experience. There is leadership in the military for example my fiance who was a leader of his platoon during Basic Training. There are also different leadership positions throughout the work place whether it be a department manager at a retail store, or a CEO of a company. These people who are "above us" are our leaders and our role models.

With all that being said I feel as though this class will be a very good one because it will be very opinionated and there will be lots of creative ideas.
